Honest by ChrisLee
(Feat. Mark Joseph)
A music video that was an absolute privilege to work on. Due to ChrisLee's rebranding however, this site is the only place the video is active. It is purely for the purpose of showcasing my work.
Synopsis
When Chris feels the need to break up with his girlfriend, an inevitable fight arises. He is accompanied by his inner conscious (Mark Joseph) to remind him that Honesty is all that really matters.
Working on a Budget
The budget for this music video was low, and shot in one day. I decided to work with an old collaborator of mine, Ethan Stupp, who shot this entire music video on a DJI Ronin and Sony a7s camera. We prepped a script, rented the equipment for the day, started shooting in New Jersey, then took a train to Penn Station where we walked all the way to Bethesda Fountain in Central Park, got the shots right at golden hour, and boom. We had a music video.
Creating a backstory
with the Artist
One of the most brilliant collaborations can be between a filmmaker and a musician. In this case, there were two lead singers who had a clear vision for the music video, yet still open to new ideas and approaches. We had worked together on a general plot line together and then my job was simply "creative" execution.
